Inspiration came from........
The inspiration came from the younger family members of our group mates who diagnosed as having ADHD. They can hardly being concentrated in the lesson being of easy distraction, as well as learning, so poor academic result is made usually. We want to help them being more focus in learning at school.
What social problems do you solve?
We want to make a normal chair at school into a modified and functional chair which can help ADHD students. Although there are tons of good looking ADHD chair, schools have to buy the new one. In using our idea, they can reduce the cost of helping the ADHD kids in more practical way.
How do we start from 0 to 1?
We firstly learn about the symptom and characteristics of students having ADHD, as well as their hardship and difficulty when studying. Then we investigate different materials such as spring, cushion, pop-it, pillow, rubber to find the best materials making the component. After that, we try to make our draft and design by all of our teammates. We also want to make a switch that can control the spring in order to make a mode as a normal chair.
The challenge we encountered
We have no experience in making a chair, that's difficult for us to turn virtual to reality. Also, we don't know much about the materials, and also the mechanics at all. Since our component has to fit with all the normal four legs chair, the design must be universal and user friendly.
The resources we needed
We want the suitable materials such as thick rubber, cushion, spring, sponge and the switch. We want to get support by the furniture manufacturer with their experience, comment and factory to make the component. Also, after making the component we really hope schools in Hong Kong can really use our solution for the ADHD students.
