Where our inspiration came from:
We were inspired while learning about endangered animals and how climate change is affecting nature as a whole. Many of us have pets at home, but we can see plenty of abandoned and neglected animals around us, in our community. We wanted to start a project aimed at educating the public on how to care for animals and bring awareness to the environment at the same time.
What social problems can we solve?
Taking care of animals can help to promote an empathetic approach to animals and nature.
How did we start, from 0 to 1:
We identified a problem in our community and brainstormed as a group on how we could solve this problem. We then progressed to acting on our ideas and organising help and guidance to assist us in our project.
The challenges we encountered:
Our first and most pressing challenge, has been gathering funds to ensure our turtles are well-taken care of.
Logistically, we have encountered smaller challenges, such as
- The location of the Turtle Inn.
- Acquiring resources.
- Educating ourselves on how to care for the turtle.
- How to keep the turtle safe from inclement weather conditions.
The resources we need:
- Chicken-wire fencing.
- Donations of turtle food/ leafy greens.
- Donation of a water hose to allow for easy cleaning when taking care of the turtles.
- Money donations for general expenses of food and upgrades to the turtle's living environment.
