Our project targets all Hong Kong residents, emphasizing the importance of collective action against climate change. Through workshops and community initiatives promoting sustainable energy practices, we aim to raise awareness to adopt eco-friendly behaviors, contributing to a healthier environment.
Inspiration came from
The super typhoon, Wagasa (24/9/2025) in Hong Kong caused destruction and created difficulties for residents! We realized that the weather in Hong Kong has been changing a lot. Summers are getting hotter, and heavy rainstorms and severe typhoons occur more often. These weather events cause flooding, blow away trees, damage infrastructure and facilities, and even harm people's homes.
As the weather gets hotter, we turn on the air conditioning more frequently, contributing to the greenhouse effect and further warming the environment.
While many in Hong Kong are safe from strong winds and heavy rain, others in some countries may suffer from a lack shelter and clean water due to climate change.
What social problems do you solve?
We hope that we can contribute to addressing climate change through small actions.
How do we start from 0 to 1
We are trying our best to promote eco-friendly practice, energy efficiency, and STEAM Education through the following actions in order to raise people's awareness:
Home:
-Promote sustainable practices at home, e.g. turn off the light and air-conditioner when not using it.
School:
-Organize STEAM activities e.g. wind energy / solar energy DIY project & host a gallery to showcase projects
Community:
-Join volunteer activities, such as beach clean-ups, to make a positive impact on the environment.
-Visit Lamma Power Station / Kadoorie Farm etc.
The challenge we encountered
The challenges we encountered include a lack of funds and materials needed to build our perpetual motion machine for our STEAM project, as well as insufficient knowledge to create the machine. It would be great if we could attend a workshop on building the perpetual motion machine to enhance our understanding and skills in this area.
The resources we needed
1) Materials and funding for wind / solar energy project kits, Perpetual motion machine materials, craft materials, tools, etc.
2) Beach Clean-Up and Field trip Transportation Fee (Coach booking fee)
who are we
We are a group of Grade 4 students dedicated to contributing to the fight against climate change for a healthier environment.
