Have you tried online shopping? Have you joined Double 11 shopping festival? Have you experienced over-packaging? As the number of online purchases continue to increase in recent years, nearly 2 billion packages were delivered in the 10 days following the event. The environmental organization Greenpeace said less than 10% of packaging material in China gets recycled. There were 160,000 tones of packaging waste!
解決Over-packaging waste!!
The popular trend of online shopping has contributed to the waste problem in Hong Kong, products ordered online tended to be wrapped in three layers of packaging (Over-packaging)! It estimated that this could produce 1,460 tonnes of waste each year – the weight of 122 double-decker buses, they usually were cardboard and bubble wrap, which were still very useful.
我們如何由0到1開始
E-shop OP Makers want to make good use of the bubble wrap and cardboard. We want to give them one more life!
1) We want to use them to invent some toys, like we want to teach others how to make bouncing game and football games.
2) We also want to use the cardboard and bubble wrap as a mold. We are going to mix cement and sand together to create concrete, and make something which are very useful, such as furniture (tables and chairs), planters, pencils....etc. We want to use the waste to help our school and society.
我們遇到的挑戰
We had our first trial of mixing cement, sands and water together to create concrete.
